A WITNESS AND AN AMBASSADOR OF CHRIST

Bible Texts: Jn.1:1-8, Matt.5:14-16, Gen.12:1-3, Ps.24:1-2, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.12:21, 1Cor.13:4-8, Philp.4:8, Matt.6:22, Jn.3:16

In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God. The same was in the beginning with God. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light (Jn.1:1-8)

Reading from verse 8 of John chapter 1, there are two important truths to note. The first is that God sent a man, whose name was John. The second is that God sent John to bear witness of the Light, Jesus Christ, so men will believe Him. And when you read down the Bible passage, you discover that John fulfilled that assignment of a witness to the end that all people believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

What is the message to you and I as husbandmen?

You and I are witnesses of Christ in our homes and in the lives of our wives and our children because we are made in the image and likeness of God (Gen.1:26-28, Gen.2:18, Gen.4:1). God sent us into the lives of our wives and our children and in the marketplace so we can be witnesses and ambassadors of Jesus Christ in thoughts, relationships, actions and conduct (Matt.5:14-16).

But what does it mean to be a witness and an ambassador of Christ?

As a witness and an ambassador of Christ, you are merciful, loving, compassionate, forgiving, caring, respectful, faithful, righteous, holy, gracious, understanding, prayerful, a helper, and a provider, leading with courage, hope and faith. Infact, you become the fifth gospel, that is, your life becomes the Jesus Christ your wife, your children and the people of the world have heard.

Therefore, you must make your headship and representation worthy of Christ’s nature. You must be the shining example of what the perfect will of God is for the good and godly man, husband and father.

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to represent Jesus Christ in my home in truth.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the life of Jesus Christ shine through me in all that I think and do.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto You.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am made by God and sent by Him as a witness of Jesus Christ and I receive grace to represent Jesus Christ in truth in my home and in the market place because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman, in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
