WALKING IN THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST

Spread the love

DAY 11 of FASTING AND PRAYER

Bible Texts: Eph.5:1-2, Rom.5:5, Jn.8:32, Rom.8:1, Gal.4:19, Jn.15:5, Philp.2:13, Eph.5:25, Deut.28:1, Jn.3:7, Acts 1:1, 2Cor.5:17

I welcome you to day 11 of the ongoing 70 days of fasting and prayer. It marks the beginning of the 2nd phase, where we shall be fasting and praying to receive power from God to walk by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ, which is our spiritual heritage (Rom.8:1-12). Remember that a spiritually mature Christian lives in righteousness, in peace and in joy.

As the husbandman, the greatest weapon that helps him conquer all fears and fleshly desires is the love of Christ at work in his life. The love of Christ has an incredible power.

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor (Eph.5:1-2)

The Scripture says that as the ambassador of Christ in your home, you must be walking in the love of Christ. What this means is that your desires, intentions and actions must be influenced by the love of Christ. Hence, the love of Christ is both a work and a walk (Jn.3:16, Acts 1:1). You do not only confess the love of Christ, you must also demonstrate the love of Christ as the man, husband and father towards your wife, your children and in the marketplace.

But how powerful is the love of Christ when I walk in it?

The love of Christ restrains you from taking actions that are against the perfect will of God for you as the good and godly husbandman. The love of Christ empowers you to behave like Christ in your conduct, thinking and responses. The love of Christ empowers you to easily forgive and forget the hurt others have done to you. The love of Christ empowers you to sacrifice your resources for the good of your wife, your children, and humanity. The love of Christ makes you think of others first even before thinking of yourself. The love of Christ empowers you to always look out for the good and improvement of others, beginning with your wife and children, whether they deserve it or not. That’s how powerful the love of Christ is (Rom.5:5).

Now, how do I then walk in the love of Christ as the husbandman?

The first step is to invite Jesus Christ into your life by praying the prayer of salvation (Jn.3:7). The second step is for you to build on the first invitation by studying your Bible, meditating on the words of Jesus Christ and joining a bible believing church where your spirit man will be nourished (2Cor.5:17). The third step is for you to pray the characters and virtues of Jesus Christ into your life (Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1, Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13). And finally, you must take action by practicing what the Bible commands you to do as the man, husband and father (Deut.28:1-2, Acts 1:1).

As the husbandman, you are made in the image and likeness of Christ (Gen.1:26-28). The power to become like Jesus Christ is in you. All you need to do is to be conscious of your new creation status in Christ and walk in love because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman (Rom.8:1, 2Cor.5:18).

Hallelujah!
