PRAYING FOR YOUSELF (3)

Spread the love

DAY 16 of FASTING AND PRAYER

Bible Texts: Eph.6:4, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8, Pro.4:7, Pro.19:18, 1Tim.3:4, Mk.9:29, Jas.1:5, Ps.112:2-3, Num.6:22-23, Is.61:9, Ps.127:3

In the past two days, we have been exploring the prayer dimensions for the husbandman and how he can be a vessel of honour to God, to his wife, to his children, and in the marketplace.

I declare by the authority of God’s word and in the name of Jesus Christ that you shall be a fruitful vine as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Today, let us look at how praying for yourself as the father empowers you to become the good and godly father.

You must recognize that as the father, your relationship is to your children.

And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)

The Word of God states clearly that you are responsible for bringing up your children in the way and admonition of the Lord. This requires you to take covenant actions to own your children and invest in their spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical growth, development and establishment through nurturing and training. These are the things that build your children into blessed seeds and make you the good and godly father.

As the father, you hold the first right over your children. You are also their source of strength, motivation, inspiration, direction, protection, leadership, influence, and righteous living (Deut.6:7-8). Your children are the link between your today and your tomorrow. They are your earthly ambassadors, representing you and what you stand for. Your children are gifts from God. They are not a burden to you but a blessing. God gave them to you to demonstrate His fatherhood nature. God wants your children to experience the Father’s love, which God has given unto us through Jesus Christ. God wants you to grow in leadership skills as you lead your children. This is how precious your children are to God, and He has commanded you to place a high value on them (Ps.127:3, Ps.112:2-3).

But for you to be the good and godly father, you must pray for yourself so that you can receive divine wisdom, courage, faith, knowledge and understanding to fulfill your covenant responsibilities towards them (Lk.10:19, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19). You pray to God to give you wisdom to lead them. You pray to God to give you the courage to correct and admonish them. You pray to God to give you understanding to appreciate their fears, concerns and expectations. You pray to God to give you knowledge so you can teach them the ways and truth of God’s word. You pray for them so the life of Christ will be formed in them (Gal.4:19). What a privilege to be the father.

God wants you to be intentional about being the father. This is why praying for yourself as the father is important. Therefore, you must pray without ceasing because there is power in prayers.

Hallelujah!

Important Decision To Make Today!

Now that you have read the devotional, it is very important for you to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer in faith.
