MAKE GOOD USE OF GOD’S RESOURCES (1)

Spread the love

DAY 27 of FASTING AND PRAYER

Bible Texts: Lk.19:11-26, Gen.1:26-28, Ps.1:3, 1Sam.3:13, Jn.3:27, Gen.1:26-28, Eph.6:4, 1Pet.3:7, Deut.6:7-9, Eph.5:25-29, Ecc.4:9-12, Ps.127:3-5, Ecc.9:11, Jas.1:5, Gal.4:19, 2Tim.2:6

Every husbandman is a manager of God’s resources just like the first husbandman, Adam (Gen.2:5). The ability of the husbandman to manage God’s resources is what makes him the good and godly manager.

This is why in the next few days, we shall be looking into the word of God to learn how the husbandman can be a profitable manager. And our anchor Scripture will be Luke chapter 19 and verses 11 to 26.

The teaching of Jesus Christ in Luke chapter 19 and verses 11 to 26 is about a landowner who gives resources in equal proportion to three sets of people. Each one is supposed to trade with the seed that has been entrusted to them by the landowner and produce results. While two persons produce results by putting their resources to good use, the other person produces no results. When the landowner requests accountability from the three managers, he is pleased with two and unhappy with the one. He increases the resources of the two managers and collects from the third the resource has given because he has not made good use of them.

What are the lessons for you as a manager from the teaching of Jesus Christ in Luke Chapter 19 and verses 11 to 26?

The first lesson is that everything that you have comes from God, including your wife and your children.

John answered and said, a man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven (Jn.3:27)

The second lesson is that everything you have is a seed from God for the good of humanity and for God’s glory.

And I will make of thee a great nation and I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing (Gen.12:2)

Your wife is a resource. Your child (ren) is a resource. Your time is a resource. Your money is a resource. Your skill is a resource. God wants you put your resources to good use for His glory.

The third lesson is that you have the personal responsibility to sow, tend, nurture, grow and develop the resources in your custody so they produce good and godly fruits.

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth and every herb of the field before it grew, for the Lord God has not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground (Gen.2:5)(Gen.1:26-28)

If you don’t do anything about the resource, you have denied it the capacity to transform its potentials to results.

God has entrusted His resources into your hands to do something positive with them. If you don’t like the outcomes you see of the resources in your custody, then it is your fault and not anyone else (Deut.6:7-9, 1Pet.3:7, Eph.6:4).

Let us continue tomorrow.
