Day 37 of 70 DAYS OF FASTING AND PRAYER
Bible Texts: Lk.7:12-13, Rom.5:5, Rom.12:21, Rev.5:5, Heb.4:15, 2Cor.5:14, Ps.145:8, Ps.103:8, Jn.14:26, Lk.18:1, Philp.2:13
Yesterday, with the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we understood from Scriptures that compassion is one of the virtues God wants the husbandman to have and demonstrate towards his wife and his children. We also learnt that Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, is a compassionate shepherd. And His life is in you.
But how does the husbandman develop the virtue of compassion, which is the nature of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman?
As the husbandman, you must allow the Word of God to fill your heart and let it dominate your thoughts.
Let this mind be in you, even the mind of Christ….(Philp.2:5)
Having the mind of Christ means you are ruled by the principles of Scripture and not the philosophies of man. Whatever God’s word says is what you will do.
Let the love of Christ be spread abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost (Rom.5:5)
The Person of the Holy Spirit empowers you to be filled with compassion and mercy. You must ask Him to spread love and mercy abundantly in your heart so that there will be no room for revenge, hatred, bitterness, strife and unforgiveness against your wife and children or anyone. You must continue to engage the power and Person of the Holy Ghost to fill your heart with the love of Christ because without Him you can do nothing (Jn.15:5).
Be not overcome by evil but overcome evil with good (Rom.12:21)
You must continue to pray for the grace of God to be upon you so that you will always overcome evil with good.
As the husbandman, you are the good and godly shepherd to your wife and children. You are the true reflection of Jesus Christ in your thoughts, words and conduct. You are made in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Therefore, compassion is your nature.
Hallelujah!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, uproot every seed of bitterness, strife, unforgiveness and selfishness in my heart.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill my heart with Your love and let it move me to forgive easily and be compassionate and merciful to others.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my spirit man with divine nature and make me function like Christ.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have the mind of Jesus Christ and by it I possess and manifest the nature of mercy and compassion towards my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
