MAINTAIN WATCHFULNESS AT ALL TIMES

DAY 48 of FASTING AND PRAYER

Bible Texts: Mk.13:36-37, Am.6:1, 2Cor.5:17, Jn.3:3-4, Pro.4:23, Ezk.2:2, Pro.23:7, Matt.6:22, Hab.2:1, 1Pet.5:8

I have come to discover that it is very easy for the husbandman to fall into error. To avoid falling into error, the husbandman must maintain watchfulness over his spirit, soul, and body. Remember that the devil goes about looking for whom he may devour. This is why you must maintain watchfulness at all times. This is the admonition of Jesus Christ to you and I.

Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house cometh at even or at midnight or at the cockcrowing or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find sleeping. And what I say unto you I say to unto all, watch (Mk.13:35-37)

As the husbandman, you cannot afford to be careless with your life, with the words that come from your mouth, or with the thoughts that you allow into your mind. Otherwise, you will keep falling into error and be unable to fulfill the great plans of God for your life as the good and godly man, husband and father.

Now, how do I maintain watchfulness?

You must keep guarding your heart with all diligence.

Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life (Pro.4:23)

As the husbandman, you must guard the type of information you receive into your mind. This requires you to ensure that the books you read, the films you watch and the messages you listen to are in tune with the Word of God. Always remember that the information you receive into your spirit man influences the quality of your thoughts and determines your actions (Pro.23:7). You are only as good as you think, and you cannot act better than what you think.

You must keep engaging with the Person of the Holy Spirit by the weapon of the word of God, prayer and fasting.

I will send the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, who will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things you need to know (Jn.14:26)

The Person of the Holy Spirit has two important ministries to you. He teaches and guides. As you ask for His help and truthfully so in prayers, He will teach you what you need to know; He will reveal to you what is not obvious; He will help you to discern what is right from what is wrong; and He will guide you in the way that you should go, think and act.

And so, as you continue your walk towards becoming the good and godly husbandman, please keep your watchfulness.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from spiritual complacency and careless living.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, lead me away from ungodly influences and associations.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be prayerful and watchful.

FAITH CONFESSION

I stand upon my watch and I maintain continued watchfulness over what I read, hear and listen to so the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart will be acceptable in the sight of God and profitable to my wife and children because that is what gives me value as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Please, pray this prayer in faith.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
