Bible Texts: Matt.5:40-48, Heb.12:1-3, Gen.17:1-3, Ps.1:1, Jos.25:14-16, 1Cor.13:9-12, Matt.6:9-10, Ezk.2:2, Mk.9:29, Deut.2:3, Acts.10:36, Jn.3:3-7, Acts.1:1, Jn.15:5, Rom.5:5
God’s ultimate wish for you as the husbandman is for you to grow up and mature in the things of God that pertain to your responsibility, conduct and actions as the man, husband and father. So, Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, says this to you and I as husbandmen.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you , love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you. For if you love them which love you what reward have ye? Do not the publicans the same?…… Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matt.5:43-48)
Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman says that you must and can be perfect as your Father, which is in heaven, is perfect. But is Jesus referring to here when He said “be ye perfect?
The perfection that Christ is referring to here is you manifesting the fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith (faithfulness), meekness, temperance (Gal.5:22)
As the husbandman, God wants you to manifest love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and endurance as you lead your life, and the lives of your wife and your children. God wants you to be better each day in your thoughts, words and actions. God wants you to experience growth and improvement in your spiritual, emotional and physical life as the good and godly man, husband and father. God wants you to grow out of your childish tendencies unto maturity (1Cor.13:11). Praise God!
But how do I grow up and be mature as the husbandman?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for disobeying Your instructions and refusing to grow up as the man, husband and father.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me boldness and courage to disassociate myself from all forms of ungodliness.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to exercise power and authority over the influences of satan, sin and the world and make me to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and I walk in this consciousness in my thought, action, communication, association and relationship, bearing the fruit of the Spirit because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
