Bible Texts: 1Tim.3:1-5, Matt.5:14-16, Col.3:19, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.5:25, Deut.6:1-7, Eph.6:4, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29
The Word of God in 1st Timothy chapter 3 and from verses 1 to 5 provides the key indices that define the husbandman as the good and godly leader. And I encourage you to measure your actions and conduct against these good and godly virtues mentioned in the Word.
This is a true saying, if a man desire the OFFICE OF A BISHOP, he desireth a GOOD WORK. A bishop then MUST BE BLAMELESS, the HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, VIGILANT, SOBER, of GOOD BEHAVIOR, GIVEN TO HOSPITALITY, APT TO TEACH, NOT GIVEN TO WINE, NO STRIKER, NOT GREEDY OF FILTHY LUCRE, but PATIENT, NOT A BRAWLER, NOT COVETOUS, ONE THAT RULETH WELL HIS OWN HOUSE, HAVING HIS CHILDREN IN SUBJECTION WITH ALL GRAVITY (1Tim.3:1-5)
The Scripture mentions the following as the true measurement indicator of the good and godly husbandman.
Firstly, the husbandman must be blameless. This means that the husbandman must be a person of integrity both in character and conduct at home and in the marketplace (Matt.5:14-16).
Secondly, the husbandman must be a man who is married to only one wife: no mistress, no concubines. This is because from the beginning, when God made the first family, He made them male and female (Gen.2:18-25).
Thirdly, the husbandman must be vigilant both physically and spiritually.
Fourthly, the husbandman must be teachable so he can receive corrections, instructions and guidance from the Lord.
Fifthly, the husbandman must be the first teacher of his wife and children, teaching and leading the way unto godliness and righteousness (Matt.5:14-16, Acts 1:1).
The office of the husbandman is a privilege and desirable but walking in the fullness of becoming the good and godly man, husband and father comes with responsibilities and commitments. God has His standard for the husbandman. It is your obedience to God’s standard as the man, husband and father that makes you the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your Spirit to function in my office as the good and godly husbandman.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, anoint me with fresh oil to be a positive influence at home and in the market place.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with divine wisdom so that I can become a worthy vessel.
FAITH CONFESSION
God has chosen me to occupy the office of the husbandman and I make a fresh commitment to do the works of the husbandman so that I become the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
