He Who Loves His Wife, Loves Himself

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Eph.5:28-29

More Scriptures: 2Cor.2:6, 1 Cor.13:4, Jn.3:16

So, ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church (Eph.5:28-29)

No husband ever does his wife a favour loving her. So, if you love your wife, you are not doing her a favour neither are you helping her. If you ever love your wife, you are actually loving yourself and doing yourself a favour. If for any reason, you are kind to your wife, patient with her and act in all the ways that the Scripture commands in 1Cor. 13:4-8, you must not pride yourself as doing anything special to your wife. This may sound very harsh but that is the truth of Scriptures. For he that loves his wife loves himself. Why? Because no man ever hates his own flesh but nourishes and cherishes it. If you massage your wife when she is hurt physically, you have only helped yourself because if you leave her in that state, she will not give you her maximum, whether sexually, emotionally or physically. If you pray for her to grow into the full stature of a prudent woman, it is to your advantage. She will serve you prudently and help you to maximize your potential as the leader of the home. Whatever seed of love you plant into her, you are the greatest beneficiary. The husbandman that laboureth shall be the first partaker of the fruits (2Tim.2:6).

As the head of your family and the shepherd over your sheepfold, you must understand that any action you take in the direction of your flock has an indirect impact on you. And the impact could be positive or negative. God desires you to enjoy positive impacts from your sheep. He wants you to enjoy your flock. He doesn’t want you to manage your flock. Jesus Christ loves the church and the impact of His love is available for all to see. And to the glory of God, billions are turning to Jesus and taking territories for Christ. You are like Him. Act like Him.
