FORWARD MOVEMENT

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ezra 3:7-8

More Scriptures: Jn.10:10, 1Chro.4:9-10, Ps.1:6

Every godly husband desires progress. He wants freedom. This is called positive movement. Positive movement away from financial crisis and limitations to financial freedom in the family, freedom from spell and enchantment; freedom from barrenness, addictions, sickness and diseases. As the shepherd of the sheepfold, you want to be free. That is what Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husband, says in Jn.10:10. But I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10).  Jesus came to set you free. He came to set you sheep free. You are the channel through which He wants to get it done.  As the head of the family, you want to see your children make progress in every area of their lives whether it is in their academics, relationships, careers, spiritual endeavours and any other area of endeavors. You also want to see your wife increase and be blessed in all that she does. That is God’s will for you. However, if you don’t see that happen in the lives of your sheep, then know that the enemy is at work and you must steadfastly resist it. The reason why so many husbands are frustrated with their wives and children is because they (husbands) are on the same spot. Their children struggle to get by in school. Their wives’ lives appear miserable. As the head of the family, you must not watch your sheepfold dislocated. Move it forward.

But how do I move my sheep and sheepfold forward? You move them forward by praying the Jabez kind of prayer. Jabez was a man in like fashion as you are but he was not comfortable with the circumstances of his life and his sheepfold. So, he prayed.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me. AND GOD GRANTED HIM THAT WHICH HE REQUESTED (1Chro.4:9-10).  This husbandman prayed a short but precise prayer that terminated every form of stagnation in his life and by extension his family. And it happened as he prayed. Elijah prayed also in James chapter 5 for the stagnation of dryness to end and it ended as there was abundant rainfall. You must note that Jabez prayer was fervent and effectual. He meant every word that proceeded from his lips to God and it came from a deep sense of desperation. You can’t pray casually and expect a dramatic change. You are in a spiritual warfare that requires you to be fervent in prayers. Don’t pray a casual prayer if you don’t want your wife and children to end up as casualties. Your fervent prayer as the spiritual leader of the home can enforce the needed changes that you crave for in the lives of your wife and children. You can move your wife and children forward.
