For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men on things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. Who can have compassion on the ignorant and on them that are out of the way, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity (Hebrews 5:1-2).
As the head of the family, there are three spiritual offices that you occupy. The first is the office of a pastor. The second is the office of a prophet and the third is the office of a priest . God wants you to operate in these three levels of authority as you lead your wife and children. And if you want to enjoy the most benefits of your heritage as the good and godly husbandman, you must exercise your power as the pastor, priest and prophet over your sheep.
So, today, I want us to consider the priesthood office of the husbandman. From the Scripture in Hebrews 5, the Word of God says that the priest is ordained for the benefit of men. And this happens when the priest is able to bring the power and person of God to his people. That is what God expects you to do in the administration of your sheepfold. God wants you to bring your wife and children closer to Him. He wants you to teach them His ways. God wants you to lead them in the way that they should go. God wants you to stand in the gap for them. Read what the Bible says about the importance of the priest. I sought for a man who will stand in the gap that I may not destroy the city….(Ezk.22:30). You are a teaching priest, with the responsibility to teach your sheep the ways and plans of the Lord from the word of God.
How do I exercise my priesthood power over my sheep? The first is for you to make your way right with God. You must not just be born again, you must also consciously develop a strong relationship with Jesus Christ by giving attention to the word of God, fellowship with other brethren in word-based church and listening to the instructions of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, you must walk and talk in the consciousness of your position as the priest. The word of God has this to say. We have believed, so we speak (2Cor.4:13). It is not enough to know that you are the priest, it is much more important for you to act like one-coordinating the spiritual direction of your wife and children. And as you do that, your will earn the respect and loyalty of your sheep. You must understand that so much has been given to you by God and He expects so much from you and your ability to function in the priesthood office for the benefits of your wife and children is what gives value to your life.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, have mercy upon me and take me in as You son.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to speak your word in faith and not in doubt.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me to hear and help me to do Your instructions.
FAITH CONFESSION
God has ordained me as the priest over His sheep and I function as the true and godly priest to my wife and children because that is my heritage as the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
