HAVE THEIR BACK COVERED

As the good and godly husbandman, do you have the backs of your sheep covered? Can your wife count on your faithfulness and loyalty? Can your children rely on your advice and counsel? Are a you a reliable man, husband and father to your sheep? These are pertinent questions you must consider if you want to grow as the godly husbandman. And this is why the Scripture admonishes you to live a transparent and truthful life. God doesn’t want you to lie to your wife and children. God wants you to earn their trust and confidence by the godly life you have lived. One of the vital virtues that you must cultivate in your life and pass onto your sheep is trust. You must work hard to earn their trust and they must be assured that you have their backs covered against any assault from satan, sin and the world.

You don’t just assume that since you are the head of the family, your wife and children would believe that you have them protected. You have to demonstrate to them that they are safe with you around and that nobody can harass them. So, how do I earn their trust to believe that I can defend them anytime, anyway and anywhere?  Firstly, you must be truthful to your wife in all things. This includes your journeys, finances, and business dealings and in all matters. As the head of the family, you owe your wife the duty of telling her the truth. If you are going to work, tell her you are going to work. If you are travelling for an official assignment outside of town, tell her you will be out of town. If you are visiting a female friend, tell her you are visiting a female friend. If you have a property or you’re building a house in any location or part of the world, let her know in totality. The reason why you must be open with your wife is because you are now one flesh with her. Therefore, a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh. The two of them, the man and his wife were naked, but they felt no shame (Gen.2:25). You are no longer alone. You are now one with your wife. This bond of togetherness must inspire you to tell your wife the truth about who you are and what you do. So, be truthful to her. Don’t believe the lie of man that your wife is a witch. You must resist the offer from satan that your wife is your enemy and that she wants to hurt you. You are a man of authority and power and you can tell her the truth and yet make any ungodly intentions impossible.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from lying spirit.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to speak the truth at all times and in all circumstances.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from secret sins and fill me with the spirit of truth.

FAITH CONFESSION

I speak the truth to my sheep and I hide nothing from them because I want to set a good and godly example as the godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
