LIVING IN ERROR (2)

As a husband, it doesn’t matter how far you have walked in error or how logical your arguments may be. If it doesn’t agree with the word of God, it doesn’t fit into your office as the husbandman. How sweet are they words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth (Ps.119:103). The Scripture also has this to say about the truthfulness of the word of God over the traditions and cultures of your village or country. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps.119:105). Furthermore, the Bible says, thy word is very pure, therefore thy servant loveth it (Ps.119:140). You need a great dose of the word of God in you to really function at high performance in the discharge of your functions as the head of your family. All that you will ever require to really be a good and godly husband is inside the Bible. So, you have a responsibility to search for the appropriate words for your office as the husband and engage yourself in doing the discovered words.

But how do I overcome the force of living in error as a husband? The first step you must take is yield yourself-will, emotions, and thoughts- to the will of God. Because Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband, is the Truth, He is always committed to guiding you into all truth about how to function maximally as the head in your family fold. Secondly, you must learn to keep feeding your spirit man with the word of God and sound doctrine. The word of God carries the Spirit of God so if you feed your inner man with it, it helps to sharpen your ability to discern right from wrong. It witnesses to you when you are on the wrong path and directs you on the right path to go. In Pro.4 the Scripture describes the word of God as medicines capable of bringing wholeness to your spirit man.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my spirit man to be sensitive to Your small still voice.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let Your word gain root in my heart and let it bear fruit in my life.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of error and guide me in the path of truth.

I am influenced by the truth of God’s word in my walk as the head of my family because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
