ARE YOU LIVING THE LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST? (1)

And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by hos Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh (Rom. 8:10-12)

I want to take every husband through the next few days on what happens when as the head of the family, your life is woven around Jesus Christ, Who is the perfect example every spiritual leader and head of family is expected to emulate. As leaders in the home, husbands are spiritual beings. This means that your life must be guided by the Spirit of God. However, the greatest mistake husbands make is to conclude that existence revolves around what to eat, drink, where to live and what to wear. So many husbands have become materially and financially fat but spiritually empty. This misplaced approach by husbands have made them become weak elements and irrelevant to their wives and children.

Now what are the demands for every husband who is in Christ? First, it demands that it is no longer your will but the will of God that prevails. It requires you to completely surrender to God and His instructions- dying to self and living for God and what pleases Him. Secondly as the head of the family, you must live a life of separation from sin and its appeals and be locked up with God. As the head of the family, you must not allow worldly pleasures to have you (Heb.11:24-26). It also demands that you separate from worldly alliances- ungodly business alliances, cult alliances and adulterous alliances. Your first assignment as the leader of your home is to raise a godly family-wife and children. You have been sent by God over your sheep so that through you the nature and life of Jesus can be formed in them. Whatever you are working at- building a huge financial reserve in the bank, building large estates and investments for your sheep, without any spiritual foundation, it will be unsustainable.

The foundation upon which the lives of your wife and children can be secured is a godly and righteous foundation, which you must lay. God has put you in charge so that you can provide a godly heritage for them. As the head of the family, you cannot continue in sin that the grace of God may abound. God hates sin and all that it represents. God will always do His part of being holy; you must play your own role. You will always have temptations. It is the truth about your position as the head of the family. However, you must allow the life of Jesus Christ to dwell richly in you because that is the power that will empower you to overcome every temptation.

Your wife and children are looking up to you. Don’t give them any reason to doubt you.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a life of holiness and purity in my spirt, soul and body.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, break every power resistance that wants to resist my will to obey You and Your word.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me continuous victory over sin and all temptations.
