THE POWER OF THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jn.10:17-18

More Scriptures: Mk.9:29, Heb.1:3, Lk.1:38

Yesterday, the Spirit of the Lord helped us to understand that without power, you and I cannot function as the head of our families efficiently and effectively. And without the power of God working in you, you cannot overcome the spirit of pride. Infact, you cannot live the sacrificial life. This is why today, I want to take us further into the power that makes you and I to operate in the fullness of our calling as the pastor, priest and prophet over our sheep and sheepfold.  And that is the power to take it again.

The power to take it again is the grace of God at work in the life of a husband, making him to enjoy the rewards of his investment in his sheepfold.  In 2Tim.2:6, the Scripture says, the husbandmen that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. And in 2Tim.5:18, the word of God says, for the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And a labourer is worthy of his reward. It takes the power of God to enjoy the rewards of loving your wife, training and admonishing your children. You need power to enjoy your wife in every respect of your relationship with her. This includes spiritual, emotional, physical and mental. You need power from God to exact enormous godly influence over your wife and children to the extent that they call you lord. You have sown good seeds into the lives of your sheep. You deserve a harvest. And God is always ready to reward faithful servants.

But for you to be empowered by the Holy Spirit for effectiveness and efficiency in your function and role as the godly man, husband and father, you need to submit yourself to the demands to continuous word study, prayer and fasting and meditation and a walk of faith. These three responsibilities give birth to supernatural abilities to lay down and take again whatever you have sown. If you lay down love, you take honour and respect from your wife. If you lay down kindness, compassion, provision and guidance, you take goodwill and defence from your children. In Gen.8:22, the word of God says, as the earth remaineth seed time and harvest shall not cease. And in Gal.6:7, the Scripture says that whatever a man sows that is what he will reap. Jesus sowed His life. He has reaped billions of saved souls around the world. However, two things are needed if your laying down will result in your taking it again. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. NO MAN TAKETH IT FROM ME, but I LAY IT DOWN OF MYSELF. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father (Jn.10:17-18). As a husband, you must lay down your life for your sheep sacrificially. Secondly, you must lay it down willingly. It is an honour to be a husband. Celebrate it!
