Main Scriptures: Eph.5:25-27
More Scriptures: 2Tim.2:6, Gen.4:1, Deut.6:7
Yesterday, by the help of the Holy Spirit, we recognize that as husbandmen, we are caretakers of God’s assets-the sheep and the sheepfold. We own nothing but managers of everything. We also saw from the word of God that as caretakers, we are to nurture, demonstrate care, discretion, support and direction to our sheep-wife and children. And we are to discharge our duties as caretakers according to what God says in His word-The Bible. You and I as shepherds must consistently allow this truth to sink into our spirit man- that God wants you and I to take care of our flocks lovingly and succeed as godly men, husbands and fathers and impact the market places of life for God and for good.
Today, let us consider another dimension of who you are. You are a care giver. If you have ever visited an old people’s home-where aged are being cared for, you would appreciate the role of a caregiver. A care giver gives everything but does not expect anything in return. He gives his time, energy and resources to the weak person without thinking of what he would get in return. They sacrifice their convenience so that the weaker person can be comfortable. They absorb the smell, faeces, and cries and even slaps from the old people without fighting back or retaliating. Caregivers are selfless. This is why very few can actually provide this kind of service anywhere in the world.
Now, that is who you are. God has ordained you to be a caregiver. God recognizes that you are stronger than your wife and children, who are seen as weaker vessels (1Pet.3:7). So, He places you ahead of them so as to provide for them the type of care they cannot provide for themselves, in the same way caregivers in the old people’s home provide support to the elderly and old people what they cannot do for themselves. For example, your wife cannot become pregnant by herself. She needs you to help her get pregnant by having an intimate, sexual relationship with her and planting your seed inside her. And Adam (husband) knew Eve his wife and SHE CONCEIVED, and bare Cain………… (Gen.4:1). It does not matter what the doctors or any other person may have said and concluded about your wife and yourself as it concerns your fruitfulness. You can partner with God to make your wife pregnant. Your child needs you to help him or her become the seed whom the Lord has blessed, through your deliberate and tireless investment of your time and resources in their lives. In Deut. 6:7, the Scripture says, and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up. You may not to be getting any rewards now for providing care to your sheep. But do not give up on them. You must lovingly, consistently and selflessly care for your wife and children in the way God wants you to. And as you stay at it, your care for your flock will speak very shortly (Rev.2:2, 19, 2Tim.2:6). Be the wise caregiver. It is profitable both to God and your wife and children.
