STEADY YOUR EYES ON JESUS

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Psalms 121:1-4

More Scriptures: Matt.6:22, Hab.2:1, Heb.12:2

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer my foot to be moved, he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep (Ps.121:1-4).

As the head of your family and the shepherd over your wife and children, to whom have you lifted your eyes? Where are you looking at for the solution to the challenges confronting you? Where are you looking at for answers to that lingering friction you are having with your wife and children? Where are you searching for solution to that prolonged barrenness in your family? Who are you running to for the unsure future staring your sheep or even the resistance you are getting from your wife and children? Well, if there is anywhere to look to and anyone to look up to, it is God Almighty.

As a husband, you have enormous responsibilities towards God, your wife and children and the world in general. For instance, God expects you to have a quality walk and work with Him (Gen.17:1, Jos.24:15). God also expects you to have a quality relationship with your wife and children (Eph.5:23-28, 1Tim.3:5, Eph.6:4). Furthermore, God wants to bless the world through you (Gen.12:3). Despite all these, satan keeps throwing at you one form of challenge or the other, aimed at frustrating you and taking you away from the plan of God. Don’t give in to the pressure. God has provided all the answers that you require to overcome your problems. All you need to do is to look up to God, through Jesus Christ and not to your pastor, bishop, parents, friends, educational qualification, money or any other. God wants to maintain a father-son relationship with you like He had with the first husband, Adam. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day……(Gen.3:8). He wants to have a healthy conversation with you concerning everything that has to do with your life, wife and children. He has not failed, and it is not in His nature to fail. He is described as the faithful God. He does not sleep nor slumber. He framed everything by the power of His word (Heb.11:3), so everything hears His voice both animate and inanimate (Micah 6:1). God doesn’t hate you. He is not happy that you are not fulfilling your functions as the godly man, husband and father. He is longing to hear you to talk to Him because He wants to give you His peace (Matt.11:28-29). Take advantage of your relationship with the good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Steady your eyes on Him because He has the answer.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, teach me how to pray aright and according to Your will.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, baptize me with the Spirit of courage and a sound mind.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take responsibility to look up to the hills (God) because that is where my helps come from to reign as a good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
