YOU HAVE BECOME THE ACCESS

Every time I read this verse of Scripture from John gospel chapter 10 and verses 7, I am inspired to want to continue to be the best of God to my wife and children. Now, you must understand that as the head of your family, you are the door to the lives of your wife and children. What this means is that you are the channel through which anything or anybody can connect to them. It also means that nobody or thing can reach your wife and children unless and until you permit it, just the same way nobody can come to God the Father except through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep (Jn.10:7). Remember that as a husband, you are a kind of Christ to your wife and children. Several times in Scriptures, Jesus Christ is described as the Groom. He is also referred to as the Head. In Eph.5:25, the word of God says, husband love thy wife as Christ has loved the Church. So, it is not out of place to be referred to as the door to your flock-wife and children.

But what does it mean to be the door to your wife and children? It means that as the good and godly husbandman you are a watchman over the lives of your wife and children. And typically a watchman ensures that no intruder gains access into the house or home he is keeping watch over. It also demands that until the intruder can capture the watchman, it would be impossible for the intruder to invade or capture the people inside. God has given you a wife and children to watch over. He has made you the head. He has empowered you with authority and power. He has made you a king and a priest over their lives. He has ordained you a pastor, teacher, shepherd, prophet, and lord. All these virtues are to help you become a good and godly access-way to the lives of your sheep. However, certain invincible forces keep making you to fail in your functions as the spiritual leader over your sheep and sheepfold.

So, what must you do to remain the door? First, you must keep the prayer altar of your life burning by praying daily for the outpouring of the spirit of grace and supplication. In Lk.18:1, the Word of God says, men ought to always pray and not faint. Secondly, you must walk boldly and talk confidently, because without faith you cannot please God (Heb.11:2,6). Thirdly, you must engage the ministry of the Holy Spirit so that He can open your eyes to see any satanic access or influence and your ears to hear any strange voice. You are the door between the world and your sheep. Stand firm, watch at the gate and be vigilant.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by Your Spirit, empower my ears to hear and my eyes to see and know that I am the door indeed to my wife and children.
• Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, break every force of fear, watchlessness and intimidation in my life.
• Father, by Your Spirit, stir a new wave of the Spirit of faith, thereby making me to contend with every intruder.

I am the door to my wife and children and I continue to watch over them because that is what makes me a good and godly shepherd in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
