YOU ARE A WORTHY VESSEL

Spread the love

Main Scriptures:  2Timothy 2:19-21

More Scriptures: Ps.51:10, 1Tim.6:12, Heb.12:23

Let me begin by saying that the will of God for you as the head of your family is to be vessel of honour. God wants your life and conduct to reflect His nature both at home and outside the home. God desires that your life becomes a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him. God wants you to be clean inside out. And this is why you and I must take today’s message seriously and pay attention to what the Person of the Holy Spirit would be communicating to us. I pray in the name of Jesus that our lives will minister righteousness to our sheep and in the market places of life.

As the head of the family and the spiritual authority at home, it is very important for you to continue to purge your life from the works of sin, the same way you take your car for servicing from time to time to maintain the health condition of the car. You are the shepherd over your wife and children, hence it is very important for you to cleanse your life on a continued basis to enhance your life, positively, and by extension the quality of your relationship between you and your wife and children. Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his. And let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honour, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. (2Tim.2:19-21). It is very important for you to examine yourself. You cannot continue to do the same thing and expect a different result. God has called you into a position of honour and not dishonor. You must live up to God’s expectations.

But what does it take to purge yourself so that you can become a better husbandman to your wife and children and even the world around you? First, you must admit that you do not know everything. The Scriptures say in Php.3:12 not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. One of the enemies you must fight is pride and a haughty spirit. If you look at the Scripture, it says not that I have already attained. There is so much you need to learn about your role to your wife, children and the people around you. And as you become teachable, you grow to become better as the head of the family. The second thing that you must do is to give attention to studying the Word of God and other anointed materials. You cannot be better than what you know, and you cannot be greater than the knowledge available to you. Thirdly, you must engage the twin force of prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). When you do these things, God will use you mightily to be a good and influential leader to your wife and children and the world around you.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the blood of the Lamb Jesus, break the power of arrogance and give me a heart of humility.
  • Father, by the blood of Jesus, deliver me from every dishonourable action and make me fit for Your work.
  • Father, by the blood of Jesus, show me mercy and teach me Your ways as I lead my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I purge my life with the Word of God because I am called by God to become a better husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
