FOR EVERY CREATURE OF GOD IS GOOD, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving. 1Tim.4:4. I want to encourage you to stay on this verse of Scripture for a few moments because it will help you change the way you see and treat your wife and children. As a husband and spiritual leader in my home, I am always inspired every time I read this passage of the Bible. It has helped me to function as the good and godly man, husband and father to my sheep. And I am confident that if you allow the truth of God’s word to find expression in your life, you will also be empowered, inspired and motivated you to become the good and godly man, husband and father to your wife and children.
The word of God in 1Timothy chapter 4 and verses 4 establishes that every creature that God created is GOOD. I mean very good. And among these creatures that God created are your wife and children. In Gen.1:26-28, when God created all things, He exclaimed that they are very good. So, if God says your wife and children are good, honestly, they are. Your wife and children are not as bad as you think. They are good gifts from God to you. No matter what is happening between you and them, they are still as good as God made them in the beginning. Your wife may have an attitude problem, yet she is still good. Your children may have attitude problem, yet they are still very good. Some husbands have concluded that their wives are finished and spentbecause the doctor’s report confirmed that her reproductive organs have been tempered with hence, she cannot conceive. But let us see the picture God has of her. In Ps.128:3, the Bible says that thy wife shall be as fruitful vine by the sides of your house, thy children like olive plants round about the table (Ps.128:3). This is what God says about your wife. It has a much stronger value than what the doctor or anyone says about her. She is a good creature. She didn’t come to you by accident. You found her because God led you to her. In Pro.18:22, it says whoso FINDETH a WIFE findeth a good thing (Pro.18:22). Your wife is not a bad incidence of your life. She is good.
Also, your children are not useless as you think they are. They are like olive plants. God gave them to you to become signs and wonders to your home and world. As the godly father, don’t neglect your children because of their bad misbehaviors. Don’t conclude that there is nothing good that can come out of your children. It is a sin against God and your seed (children) to call your children “useless”.How dare you call what God has called good, useless? And by the grace of God, these are the two creatures God has given to you-your wife and children. And God says that they are good. So, whatever you see that is not good in them and with them is sponsored by your enemy, satan. He corrupted them and you must fight to restore your sheep back to the path of righteousness (Jn.10:10).
Don’t accept the negative suggestions and opinion of men about your wife and children. It will breed bitterness and hatred in your home, creating a tense atmosphere. They are God’s best for you. Therefore, hold them in high esteem.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by Your Spirit, renew my mind to always think good and not evil of my wife and children.
- Father, by Your Spirit, impart me with Your life and let it affect my wife and children positively.
- Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to have the right attitude to my wife and children

I hold my wife and children in high esteem in accordance with the mandate of my office as the good shepherd because that is what makes me remain the good and godly man, husband and father to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.

While I agree that my wife and children are Good and perfect gifts from God, I disagree with the primary scripture picked to make this point. It is taken out of context. Paul is talking about food that men would have you abstain from eating.
