Main Scriptures: Ps. 45: 6-7
More Scriptures: Rom.12:21, 1Tim.5:8, Eph.6:4
Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of thy kingdom is right scepter. Thou lovest righteousness and hatest wickedness, therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above all fellows. (Ps.45:6-7)
One thing that I have come to learn by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit is the truth about the deeper meaning of wickedness. Before now, I had thought that wickedness was limited to a murderer, a thief, an arsonist. But when the revealed truth dawned on me, it helped to reshape my perception and enabled me to conduct myself in ways that please God, my wife and children. This is why today’s message is very important for you. I pray that the Spirit of the word shall find practical expression in your life in Jesus name. Amen.
From the Scriptures in Ps. 45, it is very clear to you and me that God wants us to love what is right and hate what is wicked. That as the head of family and the ordained shepherd over your wife and children, it is the will of God for you to do the right thing as the godly man, husband and father. God wants you to hate what is not consistent with His will and His commandments. Do you know why God wants you to hate wickedness? It is because you were created in His image and likeness (Gen.1:26-28). He is a good God, and you have His nature to be good to your wife and children. Anything less is wickedness.
Now, what is wickedness? It is unrighteousness. It is wickedness If you refuse to work to earn a living so that you can feed your wife and children but rather you depend on your sheep (1Tim.5:8). God is a worker. Jesus Christ is also a worker. The Person of the Holy Spirit is also working. If your wife and children offend you, which they will sometimes do, and you refuse to forgive instead you keep malice with them, it is wickedness (Rom.12:21). If you refuse to satisfy your wife’s sexual need but chose to satisfy another woman, it is wickedness. It is wickedness if you choose to ignore your God-ordained responsibility of nurturing and admonishing your children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4). If you consistently and deliberately abuse your wife and children in order to destroy their self-confidence, you are wicked. If you intimidate and suppress your wife and children so that you can continue to dominate them, you are wicked. If you emotionally or physically beat your wife and children, you are wicked. Anything you do to your wife and children that is not right and consistent with what God commands you to do, is wickedness.
But how do I love righteousness, that is doing the right thing from God’s perspective? The first thing is to believe that the word of God is true, and that His word is for your good. Secondly, you allow the word of God to be your guide and final authority. Finally, you must open your heart to the word of God to correct you.
