Capsule 2: HUSBANDS RULE WITH COMPASSION AND MERCY
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothed them. (Gen. 3:21)
Every time I read this passage, I am almost moved with tears in my eyes. And it continues to remind me that God loves me even in my worst of time and moment. And in this token, I am moved to extend kindness and mercy to my wife and children even when they are at the worst moment with me. Now, imagine for a moment, all that happened in the Garden of Eden. God built an entire city, filled with beauty and glamour. The husbandman, Adams, was not involved. After God had created everything, He handed over the entire edifice to Adam. God also transferred His authority to him when He gave him dominion over all. God so much trusted Him. But, bang! Adam messed up. He betrayed God. He ate the fruit that God commanded him not to eat. God was unhappy. He had every reason to kill Adam and recreate another man. But He did something unique. He made coats for them and clothed them. God offered them coats which He made from the best material-skin-rather than leaves, that Adam initially made to cover his nakedness. How loving your Father is.
That is the nature you have as the godly husbandman. He has made you in His image and likeness (Gen.1:26-28). You are a shepherd full of compassion and mercy. What offence has your wife and children committed against you? Have they disappointed you? Have they betrayed you? Have they dishonoured you? Have they disrespected your authority or challenged your leadership? Could the offence of your wife and children be almost at the same level as the offence Adam and his wife committed against God? Please, wait for a minute. Take this capsule! Make fine clothes from the best materials and cover them. Forgive them. Show them mercy. Let go and let God. Cover them rather than expose those failures to the world. Don’t mock them. Don’t take revenge against them. Show them compassion. Don’t abandon them in the cold. Don’t let them suffer. Be like the God, who showed up for Adam and his wife in Genesis chapter 3.
But how do I walk in this nature of God? The first is to agree that you are made in the image and likeness of God. Secondly, you must agree that you can be like God unto your wife and children (Ps.82:6). Thirdly, you must desire to be like God (Pro.23:18). Fourthly, you must pray your desire into reality, desperately and passionately. Fifthly, speak boldly and unashamedly of your right and personality in Christ. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, says, you shall have whatever you say… (Mk.11:23). Finally, resist the devil steadfastly, as he may want to sneak into your heart with thoughts that are contrary to the nature of Jesus Christ.

FAITH CONFESSION
God has made me in His image and likeness, and I extend His nature to my wife and children in their worst times because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
