He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever, I have said unto you. (Jn.14:24-26)
Do you know your greatest need as the godly man, husband and father? I know you will say, money, fame or fortune. But that is not it. Your greatest need is to be led by the Spirit of God in your leadership responsibilities. It is your greatest heritage. It is the answer to spiritual dryness and confusion. The greatest mistake you would make is when you refuse to be led by the Spirit of God. The refusal of husbands to submit to the leadership of the Person of the Holy Spirit has been the reason why so many shepherds are confused and without direction and vision. Many more have lost the steam and energy to lead their sheep. As the head of your family, the temptation to want to think that you know it all is always there and inviting. So, a lot of the time you take decision without the involvement of the Person of the Holy Spirit and end up bruised, hurt and frustrated. It is important for you to know that although you are the head of your wife and children, you do not know everything (1Cor.13:9).
Hence, you must consult the Person of the Holy Spirit in your decision making process. In John 14:26, the Scripture says of the Holy Spirit; I will send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, HE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS and bring to your remembrance all things. There is what to do, how to do it, what to say and how to say it. There is when and how to respond to issues that arises in your family kingdom. You need the help of the Holy Spirit to do what is right all the time. If Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church, was led by the Spirit of God, then you have a greater need of the Ministry of the Holy Spirit. The world lies in wickedness and deception. Truth is scarce and trust is few. It is dangerous to lead your wife and children by guess work. It is very important for you to note that as the head of your family, being led by God is a major factor to your successful reign as the leader.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of humility and lead me in the way that I should go.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, please order my steps through Your words and make it profitable to me.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from going the wrong direction, making the wrong decisions and exerting the wrong influences on my wife and children and in my sheepfold.
FAITH CONFESSION
I surrender my life wholly to the Person of the Holy Spirit, so that He can lead me in all things and at all times, thereby making me to live a peaceable and profitable life towards my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen
