Main Scriptures: Luke 4:39-40
More Scriptures: Lk.4:40, Mk.3:24, Ecc.4:12
Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto Him, and HE LAID HIS HANDS ON EVERYONE OF THEM AND HEALED THEM (Lk.4:40).
Reading the story in Luke chapter 4 and verse 38-40, we can establish two very important truths. The first is that Jesus Christ laid His hands on the sick. The second is that everyone He touched, received their healing. Imagine for a moment the importance of Jesus’s touch. Think about the healing virtues which flowed to the sick by His touch. This is how powerful your touch is as the good shepherd to your wife and children.
Now, l will ask this question and want you to be honest with your response. When last did you touch your wife? I mean when last did you plant a kiss on your wife, hug her or make love to her? Do you find it irritating to touch your wife? Well, if you find your wife irritating and you do not touch her or you don’t think it is necessary, then you are an unrighteous husbandman and lover. Did you know that touching your wife is medicinal, both physically and spiritually? Did you know that physical touch is the best way to communicate healing and wellness to your wife, be it in her body or emotion? Just the same way Jesus touched the sick by laying His hands on them, so you are to touch your wife (Mal.2:14). It is a righteous thing to kiss your wife as many times as you can. Sometimes what your wife needs is not the vacation trip or jewelry or even cars or any material gift. What she desires is your touch. She longs for you to hug her as often as you can. She wants your arm around her. She yearns for that physical connection from you. Your touch does magic to her inner person. It soothes her emotions. Most mornings when I am set to go to work, I plant a kiss on her forehead and give her a hug. I intentionally and deliberately do it.
Inside you are the virtues of assurance, care, support and defense (1Cor.13:4-7). The same way the virtues of healing flow through a touch, is the same way you communicate the unspoken words of patience, assurance, kindness, support and hope to your wife by your touch and physical connection to her. Would you be glad to touch her now?
