Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like a precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard, that went down to the skirts of his garments. As the dew of Hermon and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion. For there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. (Ps.133:1-3)
I love this Scripture so much because it encourages me to remain steadfast in ensuring that my wife and I dwell in unity and not bitterness. And I exhort you to make it your desire to dwell together with your wife in unity. It is a pleasant experience to dwell with your wife in love and unity. God is happy when you and your wife are living in harmony, under one roof. Infact, in Ps.122 and verse 3, the Scripture says that your family is like Jerusalem that must be compacted together. Staying away from your wife and children is not the will of God for you as the head of your sheepfold. God wants you to live with your wife and children joyfully. He doesn’t want you to manage your wife and children. God desires a united family for you. Anything that wants to destroy the bond you have with your wife and children is of the devil. Satan is the one suggesting to you to live with your wife and children in bitterness, envy and unforgiveness. Satan is the person instigating you to abandon your sheep and sheepfold. You must resist it steadfastly. It is your God-ordained responsibility to ensure that your family is bonded together in love and unity.
But how will you achieve this? Firstly, you must allow the love of Jesus Christ to overwhelm you (Rom.5:5). This means letting the word of God to take first place when you want to take any decision in your relationship with your wife and children (Rom.12:21). The second action step is for you to remain focused and not be distracted by the actions or inaction of your wife and children. The Bible says in Matt.6:22 that, “if your eyes be single, your whole body will be full of light”. You must keep the plan of God for your sheepfold in front. You must focus on the program of God for you as the godly man, husband and father. You must keep your eyes above the storms and challenges you may be having with your wife and children. The third action you must take is to renew your mind with the word of God, daily. God’s word says this much in Rom.12:1-3. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God (Rom.12:2).
As you strive to dwell together with your wife and children in your sheepfold, harmoniously, you create a stronger force against the wiles of satan. sin and the world. And ultimately, you also attract the blessings of God upon your family.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with wisdom to dwell with my wife and children in love and unity.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, uproot every root of bitterness and envy in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from ungodly associations and relationships, deadly habits and lifestyles.
FAITH CONFESSION
I stay focused on my wife and children and my sheepfold, and I work to dwell with them in unity and pleasantness because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
