PURSUE GOD’S AGENDA, DO WHAT IS RIGHT

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matt.6:32-33

More Scriptures: 1Sam.8:3, 1Tim.3:1, Eph.5:25

For after all these things do the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you (Matt.6:33)

The Bible passage is a famous Scripture to so many husbandmen. But not many of us know that there are two things that God wants you and I to seek first as we lead our sheep. Now, what are the two things you must seek, first? God wants you to seek His kingdom, which has to do with the promotion of His interest on earth- investing your resources to support the building of worship centres, giving to the needy brethren, support the man or woman of God and so much more. God also wants you to seek to do the right thing-love your wife as He has loved the church, give attention to her, support and pray for her, and train your children in the way of the Lord, provide for your wife and children, honour your parents, be truthful in all your dealings, obey constituted authorities and so much more. That is what God wants you to seek first, whether you are a pastor, evangelists, prophet, or a teacher of the Word of God.

As the godly husbandmen in ministry, God wants you and I to succeed both in our callings and families. God wants you and I to have the best and not worst of times with our wives, children and those around us. Unfortunately, this has not been the case with many husbandmen in ministry as was the case with Prophet Samuel chapter 8 and verses 1 to 5. Many have succeeded in ministry but failed in the family life. Many more have broken marriages, living with bitter and hurting wives and contending with rebellious children, even though they are zealous for the things of God. Many more are living in perpetual malice with their sheep. This is because many are seeking to build the ministry, expand the church network and reach out and bring many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, while neglecting the first assignment-the family. Please, do not think that your wife and children are a distraction. Your call to husbandhood is noble. This is a true saying, IF A MAN DESIRE THE OFFICE OF A BISHOP, HE DESIRETH A GOOD WORK………one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity. For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? (1Tim.3:1-4, 1Tim.5:7-8).

However, you need the wisdom of God to be able to seek His kingdom and do what is right to your wife and children, all at the same time. So, you must ask God by His Spirit to give you the ability to serve Him and do what is right from His word. This means kingdom assignment and family responsibility and succeeding in all.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, please, give me wisdom so that I can balance ministry work and family responsibilities.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to succeed as a minister and a family man.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to walk righteously with my wife and children and in the marketplace of life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I seek the advancement of the kingdom of God on earth and I pursue to do what is right to my wife, children and the world from the word of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
