Main Scriptures: Gen.14:21-24
More Scriptures: Philp.4:8, Gen.14:23, Gen.12:2
Praise God! We are on the third day of this teaching series. And I want to believe God and the Person of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord that you have been richly blessed. My prayer is that you will give yourself to the demands and instructions of Scriptures to become all that God wants you to be to your life, wife and children.
The last feature I want us to consider is self-esteem. What is self-esteem? It is confidence in one’s own abilities. It is about believing that you can succeed in the assignment of leading your wife and children. It is about being steadfast in the pursuit of God’s plans and purposes for your wife, children and family-fold, irrespective of the negative feedback. You must understand that until you believe that you can succeed as a man, husband and father, it would be very difficult to win. Even, your heavenly Father would not do so much to help you if you think He cannot. If thou shalt say in thine heart, these nations are more than I, how can I dispossess them? (Deut.7:17). Challenges would come while leading your wife and children, but it takes your self confidence in God and His abilities in you to overcome the challenges. If you do not have your confidence intact, you will easily give up on your assignment as the good and godly man, husband and father.
But how do I become a self-confident shepherd and grow it? The first step is for you to acknowledge that God sent you to lead your wife and children (Gen.2:7-8, Eph.5:23, Eph.6:4). So, His grace is sufficient for you. Secondly, you must study the word of God to know the truth by yourself and for yourself. Knowledge is not just power, it is also influence (Jn.8:32) Study to show thyself approved as a workman who is not ashamed of the gospel but rightly dividing the word of truth (2Tim2:15). The more you know about God’s expectation of you as a man, husband and father, the more empowered you become to function confidently in those capacities. Thirdly, you must have the big picture of the plans of God for your life and that of your wife and children and sheepfold. When you have the big picture in sight, it will not be difficult to forgive your wife and children. It will not be tasking to serve your sheep with your time, money, skills, and your body. And this will make it very difficult for the devil or any ungodly person to gain a foothold in your family-fold thereby influencing to behave like an average husbandman. Let thy eyes be single and the whole body will be full of light (Matt.6:22). God made the husbandman to succeed in your spirit, soul and body. God has deposited inside you the innate abilities to function creditably as the good and godly husbandman. You have the power to do all things through Christ that strengthens you.
