THE MIND WAR

As a man thinks in his heart so is he…. (Pro.23:7)

I have come to discover that the mind is the most powerful force in the life any husbandman. It is the mind that influences our action, response and conduct. I also observe that no husbandman can detach the quality of his life from the quality of his mind because, as a man thinks in his heart, so he is. So, the battle ground where you win is your mind. I call it the mind war. And that is why today’s Scripture is important for you and me, who have the God ordained mandate to lead our sheep.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world but BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:1-3).

Note the phrase in the passage. “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind”. Do you want to prove to your wife and children what is good from the word of God? Win it first in your mind. Do you want to do the perfect will of God as the good and godly man, husband and father? Win it, first in your mind. If your mind has been captured by satan, sin and the world, you will manifest sinful and worldly outcomes.

You must understand that the first war you fight is the mind-war. That is your greatest battle in your quest to become the good and godly husbandman. If you can win the war in your mind, you have won the battle on the outside. For instance, bitterness, unforgiveness, adultery, malice, hatred, weakness, laziness and much more that you are engaged in are issues that first started from your heart. As the spiritual authority in your family fold, it is important for you to know that the origin of your lack of compassion toward your wife and children; the mistrust you have against your wife; and other negative challenges you may be having with your sheep, began its journey in your mind. If you can change your thoughts pattern in your mind, your change truly is the workings of your mind. If you accept in your heart that there is nothing ungodly in cheating on your wife with another woman, you will commit adultery. So, also, if you accept in your heart that it is right to change and become a good and godly husbandman to your wife and children.

But for you to keep a continuous check on your mind, you must be alert in your spirit. Be alert and sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1Pet.5:8). You must be spiritually alert and be watchful studying the Bible, meditating on the word and praying in the Holy Ghost.

You must guard your heart to guide your life.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to renew my mind by Your word and help me to do Your will.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome evil with good.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my life to count positively in my family and in the lives of my wife and children and the marketplace of life.

FAITH CONFESSION 

I renew my mind by the word of God and by it I am empowered to do the perfect will of God to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
