LET’S LEARN OF HIM (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matt.11:28-30

More Scriptures: Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4, Jn.3:16

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt.11:28-20)

In the next few days, we shall be considering what you and I can learn from Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. This is because no husbandman becomes good and godly to his wife and children by chance or luck. He learns it. And Jesus Christ has provided for you and I, His life to learn from as we lead our sheep. The Scripture says this of Jesus Christ. I am the way, the truth and the life………(Jn.14:6). Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom of the church. While on earth, He demonstrated His ways to His disciples. He showed the way you and I are expected to relate with our sheep because He has the best of intentions for us. Jesus Christ wants you and I to be restful as the godly husbandman. He doesn’t want us to struggle to lead our sheep. That is why He said, come and learn of me (Matt.11:28b).

There is so much you and I can learn from Jesus Christ that will help us become like Him to our sheep. And if you are willing and obedient to learn His ways, you will eat the good of being the good and godly man, husband and father to your wife and children. You must understand that you become better as you increase in learning. You do not become effective at leading your wife and children without learning from an example. And Jesus Christ is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. The Bible says, looking unto Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb.12:2). I therefore, encourage you to please, give attention to this teaching series and be determined and committed to practicing His ways for your good and benefit of your wife and children.

So, what can we learn from Jesus Christ that can help us function like the good and godly man, husband and father? We learn His life, His conduct and His utterances both at good times and challenging times. The first thing you learn from Jesus Christ is love. He loved His sheep so much He served them, protected and directed them. In one of those times, the Bible says that He stooped so low to wash the disciples’ feet. That is service. During the period of Passover, he served His disciples the meal. He did not think highly of Himself even though He is the express image of God. No wonder, God has highly exalted Him above all things in heaven and on earth. Now, ask yourself this question and answer it truthfully. How much have you sacrificed your pride and ego to serve your wife and children and their interest? Have you served your sheep with your time, resources and talent? If you want to be like Jesus Christ to your wife and children, you must learn to serve delightfully and truthfully.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not following Your ways in leading my wife and children.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask of more of You and less of me,  and teach me Your ways.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride, and empower me to practice Your ways as the godly man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself away so that I can learn the ways of Jesus Christ because that is what I need to lead my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
