BE THE PATTERN TO YOUR SHEEP

Did you know that God wants you to be the pattern of His life and nature to your wife and children? That is what we will be looking at today. It is important for you to know that your covenant responsibility to your sheep is to design a good and godly blueprint, using your life as the example. What do I mean by a blueprint? I mean direction-what they should do, how they should go about what they do, when they should do what they are supposed to do and why they should do what they are doing. The Scripture in Deut.6 tells you what it means to be the primary architect of designing the road map for your children. Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house and when thou walkest by the way and when thou liest down and when thou risest up (Deut.6:1,8).  It is your responsibility to show your wife and children the way to go, because you are the father-figure that represents the life of Jesus Christ. The same way the Church is looking up to Jesus for direction so are your sheep looking up to you.

Furthermore, the raw materials you will need to design the road map are contained in the Word of God-The Bible- and not from the rudiments or traditions of the world. The word of God is fool-proof and it endures the test of time. But how do I go about functioning as a godly father?

You must acknowledge that you are a teacher of the word of God. Secondly, you must agree that you have been commanded by God to live and teach the principles of His word to your wife and children. Altogether, you must become the pattern to them by your conduct and character-the Jesus Christ at home.You must become the leading light so that your wife and children and the people around you will glorify God for your life (Matt.5:14-16).
