Main Scripture: Gen.17:1-2
More scriptures: Gen.14:23, Ps.89:28, Is.29:17
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him. I am the Almighty God, walk before me and be thou perfect. And I will make my COVENANT between me and thee and will multiply thee exceedingly (Gen.17:1-2).
As the head of your family and the man under a covenant with God, there is need for you to guard your relationship with God. The will of God for you and your wife and children is to increase positively in every area of your family kingdom. The husband of Sarah, Abraham, walked before the Lord and God made an everlasting covenant with Him and the blessing of the covenant extended to his generation. God has a great plan for you. According to Scriptures, it is written, my thoughts towards you are good and not evil to give you a hope and a future (Jer.29:11).
But how do I activate the covenant the same way Abraham did? Firstly, you must walk before God in righteousness, and reverence Him in all honesty by pleasing Him in all things. When Abraham was offered bribe in Gen.14 by the king of Sodom, he refused. Secondly, you must be a giver of your resources both to the advancement of God’s work on earth and to humanity, beginning with your wife and children. Thirdly, you must walk by faith and not by sight (Heb.11:1-3)
As the good and godly husbandman, you must understand that the covenant is superior to your labour. The covenant will give to you much more than your labour. As the head of the family you can sow a seed to secure the future and destinies of your wife and children. When your family comes under the covenant, they enjoy ceaseless blessings. You must not live your life as though your life ends with you. Don’t forget that you are the head and leader of your home hence, you must provide spiritual direction for those that you are leading. Abraham guided his family into God’s covenant. You can also do the same for your wife and children. However, you must first sow your life as a seed unto God if you want to activate the covenant that will give your family a place and name unto honour here on earth.
