WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Chro.1:6-7

More Scriptures: Matt.7:7, Ps.63:1, Jer.33:3

There in front of the tabernacle, Solomon went up to the bronze altar in the Lord’s presence and sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings on it. That night God appeared to Solomon and said, WHAT DO YOU WANT? Ask, and I will give to you (2Chro.1:6-7)

A lot of the times, you have asked the Lord what you want Him to do for you. You have prayed that God helps you to succeed in your endeavours as the godly man, husband and father. But have you ever asked your wife and children what do they want from you, even without asking? Well, this is what the Holy Spirit wants you to do today. I mean today and not tomorrow. Ask your wife “what do you want me to do for you? Ask your seeds (children), “what do you want me to do for you?” This is very important for your headship as the leader over your wife and children.

As the head of your family, God wants you to continue to give direction to and fill the gaps in the lives of your wife and children. God doesn’t want you to relate with your wife and children by assumption and chance. Everything that God expects you to do for your wife and children must be intentional. David speaking in the Book of Psalms, said, O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee, my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land where no water is (Ps.63:1).  However, the intention why you ask your wife and children to demand what they want from you must be come from a pure heart. You must not use the answers they give to you to insult or mock them. The answers they give you must motivate you to want to be a blessing to them. When God asked Solomon what he wanted, He had the provision ready for him. The word of God says, ask, and I will give to you (2Chro.1:7b).

Some of the blessings you enjoy when you make it a duty to ask your wife and children what they would want from you are unhindered access to their innermost feelings. When Jesus met the blind man, He asked him, “what do you want me to do for you?”. The man’s response gave Jesus access to the man’s desperate heart cry and pain-he wanted to see. God sent you to your wife and children to establish them in His divine plan. Justify your position.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my wife and children to open up to me truthfully.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, let my heart be filled the love of God toward my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to do as You would want me for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I receive the mind of Christ to be a channel of answers to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
