CRUCIFIED WITH JESUS CHRIST, LIVE FOR HIM

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Rom.6:5-6

More Scriptures: 2Cor.5:17, Matt.5:14, Is.65:17

Since we have been united with him in his death, we will be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin (Rom.6:5-6)

As the good and godly husbandman and the head of your family kingdom, you must understand that you are dead to your old life of sin-unforgiveness, lovelessness, envy, bitterness, adultery, lying, compromises, deceit, selfishness and many more. You are no longer subject to the influences of satan, sin and the world. Like the old song says, the things I used to do, I do them no more”. You cannot claim to be the good and godly husbandman and yet find it difficult to forgive your wife or children. You cannot tell people that you are the godly husbandman when you keep malice or bitterness with your wife and children. The life of Christ in you must speak loudest in the lives of your wife and children. The Scripture says, let your light so shine before men that they may see….(Matt.5:14.) You don’t have to tell people that you are the good and godly shepherd neither do you have to remind your wife and children. Your response, your actions, your attitudes, towards them sum up who you are. In 2Cor.5:17, the word of God has this to say. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, behold old things have passed away and all things have become new (2Cor.5:17).

So, how do I do away with the old and live the new life in Jesus Christ? The first step is to give your life to Jesus Christ and walk in the fear of the Lord (Jn.3:1-8, Ps.24:1-2). This means that your decisions, dispositions and actions must be influenced by the word of God-the Bible. Secondly, you must be conscious of the truth that you have been raised by the power of the Holy Spirit to please Jesus Christ. For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives (Rom.6:4).

You are the good and godly man, husband and father. God wants you to live the new life of Jesus to your wife, children and in the market place of life. You are like Jesus Christ to your sheep and in your sheepfold. Make your life to count in righteousness and good works in the lives of your wife, children and in the market place of life.
