Fear thou not, for I am with thee ……..yea I will help thee…For I thy Lord will hold your thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, and ye men of Israel, I will help thee (Is.41:10-14).
Rejoice, again I say rejoice (Philp.4:4)
HAVE SALT IN YOURSELF
Main Scriptures: Mk.9:50
More Scriptures: Matt.5:16, Mk.9:29, Am.5:15
As the head of your family and the spiritual leader in your home, it is very important for you to understand that you are the salt on the earth. Your life is designed to add flavor to humanity beginning with your flock. The moment you become the husband and leader in your home, you no longer live for yourself again but for the blessings of your wife, children and the world. Your name, your words and your relationships should inspire, motivate and empower your wife and children and the people around you to want to become the best of God.
So, the question that you should ask yourself as the leader is this. Who am I mentoring and whose life is my life inspiring or motivating? In our main text today, Jesus speaking said, salt is good, but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves and have peace one with another (Mk.9:50). God ordains your life to inspire your children and wife unto godliness and good works. Your children should see you as the canvass on which to paint the glorious pictures of their lives. Your wife should see you as her mentor.
Now, how do I have salt in myself? The first thing you must and continue to do is to open your heart to Jesus and let Him fill you with His life through His word. The more you allow His word to have His way inside of you, the more of His life you will contact and consequently your life will be renewed by the washing of the word of God (Rom.12:1-3).
Secondly, you must daily confront the force of carnality by the force of spirituality. A lot of the times as husbands, we walk in spiritual pride and carnality and call it enhanced knowledge. In Rom.12:21, the word of God tells us that we overcome evil with good (Rom.12:21). On a daily basis, we are confronted with the choice to live either spiritually or carnally. We are faced with the decisions to either become salt or lose our saltiness.
Thirdly, you must contend for the faith to be salt to your wife and children. You must never get to the point where you think you have arrived or know it all. There is so much you need to know about the life of Jesus that you must show forth to your flock and the world around you.
And as you labour in faith, word and prayers to have His life gaining root in your heart to the extent that your life adds value and flavor to your wife and children, you will then command the respect and honour from your flock and the people around you (Am.5:15).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the name of Jesus, fill my heart with your life and let it gain root downward.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, destroy the power of self and arrogance in me.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, let my life so shine before my flock and the world and let it bring You glory.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have the life of Christ and His Spirit in me and I am adding value and flavor to my world because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
