MINISTRY OF THE MAN

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.2:14-16, Gen.2:5, Jn.10:10, Jn.10:28, Jos.24:14-15, Eph.6:4, 2Thess.3:10, Jn.3:27

Two days ago, we started off by looking at the third personality of the husbandman-the father. We learnt that the father is the source and sustainer. We also discover the covenant obligations of the father to his wife and children. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will make the most of your ministry as the good and godly father. Amen.

Today, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall be looking at the first person of the husbandman-the man. And our anchor Scripture is Genesis chapter 2.

And the Lord God took THE MAN, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it. For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Gen.2:15-17).

After God made the man in Genesis chapter 1 and verse 26 through to 28, He gave him a ministry in Genesis chapter 2 and verses 15 through to 17. God says to the man “you have the ministry to first dress and keep the garden and secondly to obey my commandments.

Your covenant duty as the man is to work with your mind, body and soul. God wants you to be productive (2Thess.3:10). God wants you to engage your hands so that you can earn income to provide for your personal needs and that of your wife, children and others around you. Infact, the first proof that you are the good and godly man is your work. In Genesis chapter 2 and verse 5, the Scripture says, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth and there was a man to till the ground (Gen.2:5).

The second ministry of the man is to keep what has been given to him by God. You must understand that everything you have-your wife, children, home, business, work, e.t.c-have been given to you by God. No one receives anything except it be given to him by God (Jn.3:27). You are the steward and God is the owner. He has entrusted them into your care, and to that extent you must ensure you protect them from being stolen by the influences of satan, sin and the world (Jn.10:10). Jesus Christ, who is the express image of the good and godly man says, and I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand (Jn.10:28).

The third ministry of the man is to walk in total obedience to the commandments of God. God wants you to obey His instructions. God wants you to do His perfect will in all your pursuit whether in your business, work and relationships. God wants you to love Him with the whole of your heart, might, soul and spirit. The man Joshua is an example. He says, choose ye this day whom ye shall serve………but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord (Jos.24:15). As the good and godly man, you cannot choose which of the commandments of the Bible you will obey. You must be all in for God and His words, bringing glory to His name.

Your ministry as the man is a honourable calling. It is the first step that helps you to enjoy the wisdom of God that gives you success as the good and godly husband and father. This is because as you learn to obey the commandments of God and as you reverence His instructions over and above anything or anyone else, you become empowered to know how to lead as the husband and father.

God has made you for the best. You must walk and work with Him to be the good and godly man.
