SEXUAL INTIMACY WITH YOUR WIFE IS GOOD AND GODLY

As the good and godly husbandman, have you ever wondered if sex is good and godly and could be discussed? Or do you think that discussing sexual intimacy with your wife is not scriptural? Well, know this truth today about sex. God created the feeling and emotion in you and in your wife for you both to enjoy sexual intimacy as well as procreate (Gen.4:1). So, it is a good and godly subject to talk about.

Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twin, which feed among the lilies. Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense. Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse, thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck (Ss.4:5-6, 9).

Sexual intimacy is one area that the body of Christ has refused to openly teach for fear of being condemned or seen as being worldly. The result is that the church has created husbandmen that have become sexually irresponsible and consequently led to the high rate of promiscuity, adultery, and sexually immoral behavior amongst husbandmen.

As the good and godly husbandman, your relationship with your wife goes beyond just having sex with her. It involves connecting your spirit, soul and body emotionally to hers. Your wife is not a sex tool. She is a creature of God, whose body must be honoured and enjoyed (Ps.139:14). You are supposed to make love to her. You must understand that sex is just one of the components of love making. Unfortunately, this is where most husbandmen end up. If you stop at just having sex with your wife, neither you nor your wife will ever be satisfied. And this will lead you to look outside for other women.

I have heard of husbandmen, who when asked why they keep extra-marital affairs, readily say that they cannot be eating one meal all the time so there is need to taste other meals. This is a lie from the devil to keep you in perpetual bondage and ultimately take you to hell.

Now, what does it mean to make love to your wife? It means a combination of three things.

First, talk with her, not necessarily on sex but on those aspects of her life that you sincerely appreciate. As the good and godly husbandman, you need to open up the emotional gate of your wife, otherwise you may just end up “doing the thing” and leaving her looking like a prostitute. Secondly, touch her gently and creatively, by bringing her closer to you. You can put your arms around her waist or neck or wrap your hands around her or let her rest her head on your chest. When you do this, you would be stirring her up for the third step- physical penetration.

The Scriptures say that, husbands enjoy the wife of your youth (Mal.2:14). The word of God enjoins you to have intimate and deep sexual relationship with your wife. If all you are doing is having sex with your wife, then you have not treated her better than a harlot. God forbid! Make love enjoyable with your wife (1Tim.6:17). It is a good thing.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to treat my wife’s body with love and respect.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus and by Your Spirit, teach me how to relate with my wife emotionally and sexually.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, renew my mind and let me make love to my wife and let her respond to me passionately.

FAITH CONFESSION

My mind is renewed by pure emotions to passionately make love to my wife because that is what connects me to her as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen
