THE 4-TEST WAYS FOR THE HUSBANDMAN

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Matt.4:18-20, Lk.2:46, Matt.6:22, Lk.4:16-20, Philp.3:13-14, Lk.22:35, Jn.14:6, Is.61:9, Eph.6:4, Pro.31:8, Eph.5:25-29, 1Tim.3:4, Matt.5:14-16, Num.30:1-end

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me”, Jesus said, and I will send you out to fish for people. At once they left their nets and followed him (Matt.4:18-20) NIV

Jesus met two brothers who were fishermen. He told them to follow Him and He will make them better fishermen. The two brothers immediately followed Jesus. Why did they follow Him? What did they see that influenced their decision to follow Jesus Christ? I called it the 4-Test Ways and let us look at them.

First test way. Jesus had knowledge of why He came on earth. He understood purpose (Lk.2:46, Lk.4:16-20, Matt.6:22). Do you know where you are going and the purpose for your existence as the man, husband and father? Until you know where you are going and the reason why God made you the head, no one will follow you, no matter how hard you try.

Second test way. Jesus ran His purpose on earth with passion, commitment and strong desire. Even Apostle Paul did the same thing (Philp.3:13-14). Have you shown strong commitment and desire to pursue God’s plan for your life as the husbandman? Passion is contagious.

Third test way. Jesus had and still has the ability and capacity to provide what is required to take the people to where they wanted to be if they follow Him (Lk.22:35, Jn.14:6). Do you have what it takes to get yourself, wife and children to where you all want to be according to the plans and purposes of God?(Is.61:9, Eph.6:4, Pro.31:28, Eph.5:25-29, 1Tim.3:4).

Fourth test way. Jesus earned the trust of Simon and his brother Andrew before they chose to follow Him. He did not ask them to trust Him, he earned their trust by proofs of His conduct. And said, unto them, when I sent you without purse and scrip and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, nothing (Lk.22:35).

You can be like Jesus Christ.

Therefore, know the purpose why God made you the man, husband and father, pursue your assignments with strong desire and commitment, equip yourself with the knowledge of the word of God, and be a person of integrity, who is reliable and dependable.

SPIRITUAL EXRCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes and help me to know Your purpose for my life as the man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pursue Your plans for my life as the husbandman.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be like You in all that I think, say and do.

FAITH CONFESSION

I seek to know from the word of God, His perfect plans and purpose for my life and I pursue it with commitment and strong desire, because that is what enhances my godly influence and makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
