THE DILIGENT HUSBANDMAN

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 2Pet.1:8-10, Jn.15:4-5, Ps.23:1, Ps.1:1, Gen.18:19, Gen.17:1, Col.3:19, Eph.6:4, 1Tim.5:8-10, 2Tim.2:15, Lk.18:1, 1Cor.13:4-8

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure, for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall (2Peter 1:8-10)

From the above Bible passage, there is an important message from God to you and I. And that message is that we must give diligence to our assignments as men, husbands and fathers. The leadership position we occupy as the good and godly shepherd demands that we must work harder in our desire for walking in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge and in the fear of the Lord.

But why must I be diligent in the discharge of my assignment as the husbandman?

It is because the office of the husbandman is a privilege position (Gen.1:26-28, Gen.2:18, Gen.4:1, 1Tim.3:1). As the husbandman, you are among the few that combines the covenant responsibilities of being the man, husband and father at the same time. Praise God!

To be diligent requires that you take personal responsibility of providing, protecting, guiding and leading your wife and children. It also requires you to be committed to doing what the word of God commands you to do as the good and godly man, husband and father with delight and not with complaining and murmuring.

As the husbandman, you must understand that becoming the good and godly man, husband and father doesn’t just happen by chance. It happens by your diligent action and commitment.

Now, this is what God always wants for you as the husbandman.

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day (Pro.4:18)

Please, do not rest in your diligent work. God wants you to keep improving. If you are good, you can be better, and if you are better, you can be the best.

Glory be to Jesus Christ in the highest!
