WALKING IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.1:26-28, Gen.3:1-5, Rom.8:5-6, Rom.12:2, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Ps.24:1, Gal.6:8, 1Cor.2:14, Jn.3:6, Jn.4:24, 1Tim.4:8, Rev.12:10

I have come to realize that the principal way to enjoy peace, hope and a life of assurance here on earth and the hereafter as the husbandman is to be spiritual. What keeps you going as the good and godly man, husband and father is the quality of your walk with God and His word. Infact, spirituality is the cure to carnality, frustration, depression and discouragement. And this is why in the next few days, I want to take us on a journey of how the husbandman can walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus and the gains of being spiritual.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be CARNALLY minded is death, but to be SPIRITUALLY minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom.8:5-8)

The word of God says that there is the carnal mind and there is the spiritual mind. And as the husbandman, the perfect will of God for you is to be spiritually minded. This means that you must take your spiritual life seriously because from the foundation of the world, you were made in the image and likeness of God (Gen1:26-28, Gen.2:16-18, Jn.4:24).

But what does it mean to be spiritually minded and to walk in the newness of life?

It means to be ruled by the word of God. As the man, husband and father, you must subject your life’s decisions and actions to the dictates and influence of the word of God. This means that beyond reading the word of God, meditating on the word of God, believing the word of God and thinking the word of God, you must act on the word of God (Ezk.2:2). The word of God must take first place over and above your feelings, your emotions, the suggestions of man and the positions of your culture and the society. This is the perfect will of God for you. And that is what it means to be spiritually minded.

How I do walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus?

You must be born again (Jn.3:3-7, 2Cor.5:17). Salvation is the first step in your journey to a life of spirituality. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour, please, do it now. Today is the day of salvation. Today is for you to invite Jesus Christ into your life.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by Your Spirit and walk in the newness of life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy every form of carnality in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, restore to me the joy of my salvation.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I surrender my will and emotions to the power and influence of the word of God because I want to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
