Bible Texts: Gen.1:26-28, Gen.3:1-5, Rom.8:5-6, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Ps.24:1, Gal.6:8, 1Cor.2:14, Jn.3:6, Jn.4:24, Ps.51:1-10
Welcome to the second day of our teaching on walking in the newness of life in Christ Jesus. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that your life and my life shall bring glory to God here on earth and in eternity. Amen.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be CARNALLY minded is death, but to be SPIRITUALLY minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Rom.8:5-8)
Yesterday, the Person of the Holy Spirit helped us to understand that spirituality is the cure to carnality. And for you to overcome filthiness of the tongue, lying and deceit, cheating, fornication and adultery, and all forms of ungodliness, you must step up your spirituality. We understood that carnality is not about the fact that you are a pastor of your church or founder of your ministry or even born again. You can be any of these and yet live a carnal life.
Today, let us dwell a little more on how you can be spiritual and stay spiritual as the husbandman.
For to be carnally minded is DEATH but to be spiritually minded is LIFE and PEACE (Rom.8:6)
From this verse of Scripture, you will notice that it says if you are carnal-that is if you think like the world and act like them- it will lead to death, both physically and spiritually. If you are carnal, your love for the things of God starts to fade away. You no longer enjoy prayer time. You see reading of your bible as a burden. You no longer enjoy fellowship with other brethren. All of these are all indications of carnality which leads to spiritual death and deprives you of the power you need to lead effectively as the husbandman in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4, Jos.24:15).
These are the blessings if you are spiritual or spiritually minded, that is minding the things of God.
Firstly, you are not afraid of accusations from satan, sin and the world because you know that you have done the perfect will of God as the good and godly man, husband and father. Secondly, you are able to build up your spiritual sensitivity that helps you to discern what is right and what is wrong. And because you have the ability to discern right from wrong, you are able to take good and godly decisions that will glorify God and bring joy to your life as the man, husband and father. Thirdly, you grow in confidence in God and in His capacity to help you through the challenges of leading because you know that you are doing His perfect will for your life as the husbandman.
Therefore, ask the Lord Jesus Christ to help you get back on track to those spiritual works which you enjoyed before but you have lost. Return to God! Return to studying your bible! Return to thinking and acting on the word of God. Return to fellowshipping with others in your local church or fellowship (Ps.1:1-3, Jos.1:6-8, Ps.133:1-3, 1Cor.15:33).
Now is the time for you to awake unto righteousness. Do not let satan, sin and the world take you away from the things of the Spirit in Christ Jesus. Spirituality is your access to a life of peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Hallelujah!
