One of the spiritual virtues God wants the good and godly husbandman to have and manifest is the attitude of gratitude. This is because thanksgiving is the weapon of warfare that guarantees victory in the battles of life. It is one of the kingdom mysteries God has provided for the husbandman to utilize as he leads himself, his wife, and his children in the way and admonition of the Lord.
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labour of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and the there shall be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation (Hab.3:17-18)
The word of God in Habakkuk says that although there is no fruit on the vine, the tree has not blossomed, and the fields have not yielded their harvest, yet I will rejoice. The attitude of gratitude is the master key to unlock fruitfulness. Giving praise and thanksgiving to God through Jesus Christ is the attitude you must have if you want to succeed in every aspect of your journey as a good and godly man, husband, and father. You must rejoice in the Lord and joy in the God of your salvation. Praise be unto Jesus Christ!
As the good and godly husbandman, it may appear as if things are rough for you today. It may look as if your world is crumbling. It may even seem as if all the efforts you are putting into your work and life’s pursuits are not yielding the results you want to see. You may have reached the end of the road, and it seems your back is against the wall, and there is no way of escape for you. The Spirit of God is saying to you this morning to hold on. Don’t give up! Rejoice! God is saying to you today to change your attitude from hopelessness, doubts, fear, anger, and bitterness towards God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and His word to thanksgiving, praise, and joy. The Spirit of God is asking you to be joyful.
Rejoice! Again, I say be joyful!
But how do I cultivate the attitude of gratitude and be joyful?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for allowing the spirit of heaviness and ingratitude to gain root in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of murmuring and complaining.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of joy and empower me to have the attitude of gratitude.
FAITH CONFESSION
My God is faithful and His word is true, therefore, I rejoice always and joy in the God of my salvation, regardless of the challenges because that is that attitude that makes me an overcomer as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
