Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct , because it is written, be holy, for I am holy (1Pet.1:13-16)
Yesterday, we began this teaching series by establishing that the first step to laying the foundation of self-discipline is for you to guard and protect what goes into your mind because what goes into your mind is a seed, and it influences your thoughts, actions, and conduct.
Today, let us consider the next building block you need to develop the capacity for self-discipline as the husbandman.
As the husbandman, you must live a holy life in the true sense of it because that is what makes you the good and godly man, husband and father.
But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct (1Pet.1:15)
God is holy, and He wants you to be holy in all your conduct because you are made in His image and likeness (Gen.1:26-28). You must cleanse yourself from the filthiness of the flesh and of the spirit (2Cor.7:1). Your thoughts, your actions, and your conduct must be pure and must be in obedience to the commandments of the Word of God (Matt.5:14-16).
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matt.5:14)
Your existence as the husbandman is to bring glory to God, and the way you do that is by your good works in holiness and righteousness.
But how do I live a holy life as the husbandman?
You must desire, thirst and pursue after a holy and righteous life (Matt.5:6, Dan.1:8, Ps.42:1). You must allow the love of Christ to dominate your thoughts so it can influence your conduct in ways that pleases God (Rom.5:5). You must pray and continue to pray for the continuous release of the spirit of holiness upon your life. This is because holiness is a spiritual virtue, and prayer is the spiritual force that empowers you to live a holy life (Rom.1:4, Matt.7:7, Gal.4:19).
As the husbandman, you have a glorious destiny with Jesus Christ and here on earth. Your existence is to make a good and godly impact in the lives of your wife, children, and in the marketplace. You are a trans-generational agent of blessing (Gen.12:2). You must start laying a good foundation of self-discipline today, because it is your pathway to becoming the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with a fresh desire and zeal for holy living.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of holiness.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a holy life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I lay the foundation of holiness and I live in holiness in all my conduct as I lead myself, wife and children and in the marketplace because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
