GOD WANTS YOU TO BE RICH TOWARDS HIM

DAY 2 of FASTING AND PRAYER

Bible Texts: Lk.12:20-21, Gen.3:1-4, 3Jn.1:2, Gen.17:1-3, Jer.29:11, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, 2Tim.2:15, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19, Jn.15:2-5, Jn.14:26, Ps.24:1-2

As we progress in the ongoing fasting and prayer, one of the blessings you will enjoy is a deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman.

As the husbandman, God wants you to have and maintain a walk of righteousness and holiness because that is your greatest treasure and the reason why He created you (Gen.3:1-4).

But God said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee, then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God (Lk.12:20-21)

As the husbandman, it is good to have the material things of life because God wants you to live a comfortable life (Job 36:11, 3Jn.1:2, Jer.29:11). But what is much more important to God is for you to live a life that is pleasing to Him. And that is what you must seek to do and become as you lead yourself, your wife, and your children.

But what will my richness toward God do for me?

When you have a quality walk with God, it becomes easier for you to do those things that please your wife and children, and your conduct in the marketplace will bring glory to God. As you work to obey God’s commandments regarding your roles as the man, husband, and father, it will be reflected in how you think, talk, react, and respond to the issues of life, as well as in your relationship with your wife and children.

But to really have a quality walk with God through Jesus Christ, you must be born again (Jn.3:3-7). This means that you must confess your sins to God, repent of them and ask Jesus Christ to come into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour (2Cor.5:17, Ps.24:1-2). You must also make the Bible your trusted friend by studying it and meditating on what it says to you (Ps.1:1-3, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15). The more you study the Bible, the more you know the mind of God concerning your life as the good and godly man, husband and father. And you must pray the reality of what God has said in His word into your life by the help of the Holy Ghost (Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, Jn.15:3-5).

Therefore, as you go about your life today, be conscious of your relationship with God in truth and in righteousness. That is your heritage in Christ and the honour of your calling as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not having a quality relationship with You.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to have a quality relationship with You.

FAITH CONFESSION

I want to have a quality and worthy relationship with God through Jesus Christ in my thoughts, in words, actions and conduct because that is what defines my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Now that you have read the devotional, it is very important for you to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer in faith.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
