DAY 4 of FASTING AND PRAYER
Bible Texts: Jonah 4:1-11, Gen.12:2, Jn.10:10, Jn.3:16, Gen.17:1-2, Gen.18:19, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15, Acts 27:22-23, Gal.4:19
Welcome to day 4 of the ongoing fasting and prayer. I pray for grace to tarry till the end, and may the blessings of the fast be evident in your life all through this year and beyond in Jesus name. Amen.
As the husbandman, you may be familiar with the story of Jonah in the Bible and how the fish swallowed him. But today, with the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, I want to share with you a revelation from that story, which will empower your walk towards becoming the good and godly husbandman.
But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry…………Therefore now, O Lord, take, I, beseech thee, my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live……So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city….And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than six score thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand, and also much cattle? (Jonah 4:1-11)
God wanted the people of Nineveh to repent of their wicked ways, so He sent Jonah to minister to them. But Jonah did not go to Nineveh to tell the people that God was displeased with their evil ways and wanted them to repent. Rather than going to Nineveh, he diverted and went to Tarshish. On his way to Tarshish, there was a great storm that threatened the lives of the people on board the ship. It was discovered that Jonah was the main reason for the great storm. So, the people on board the ship threw Jonah into the water, and he found his way into the belly of the fish. Jonah prayed to God for mercy for disobeying His assignment to go to Nineveh, and God heard him and brought him out of the belly of the fish. Finally, he went back to Nineveh and preached to them, and the people repented and turned from their wicked ways. Jonah became the elevator that lifted the people of Nineveh from wickedness to righteousness and from destruction to safety.
That is who you are as the husbandman. You are the elevator in your home and in the marketplace. As the good and godly husbandman, God has sent you to your wife and your children to lift them in righteousness. God wants you to be the true light of Jesus that guides your wife and your children into all truth (Jn.1:6-8, Acts 1:1). Like Jonah, you are the elevator of righteousness.
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing (Gen.12:2)
Abraham, a husbandman like you, was not only blessed but he was also a blessing to the people. This is your heritage as the husbandman because you are the seed of Abraham. You are a blessing and not a burden to your wife and your children, and in the marketplace. You are the elevator in the lives of your wife and children. You are a blessing to them. Like Jonah, God has sent you to them to teach, guide, motivate, protect, and inspire them so they become great and mighty vessels (Gen.18:19).
Hallelujah!.
