YOU ARE THE ADVANTAGE!

Bible Texts: Jn.10:8-10, Hos.4:6, Jn.10:5, Jn.10:16, Lk.5:4-8, Mk.4:37-39, Gen.24:1-88, Gen.25:20-21

Every husband is an advantage to his wife and his children. Jesus Christ was the advantage that Peter had when he toiled all day and caught nothing (Lk.5:4-8). Jesus was also the advantage the disciples had when the boat in which they were travelling was hit with a raging storm (Mk.4:37-39). Abraham was an advantage for his son, Isaac (Gen.24:1-8). When Isaac was due to have a wife, Abraham interceded for him. Isaac was the advantage that Rebekah had when the demonic power of barrenness showed up. Isaac interceded for his wife, and God heard his prayer and empowered his wife to conceive and bear Jacob and Esau (Gen.25:20-21).

As the head of your family and the person that God has entrusted with the lives of your wife and your children, you need to know that you are the shoulder on which they should ride. Your position as the head of the family confers on you three combined-level status- a man, husband and father. So, you are ordained to be the advantage for your wife and children as a man, a husband, and a father.

But how do I become the advantage in the lives of my wife and my children? The first step is to recognize who you are as the husbandman from the Word of God. Many times, the devil is not the problem when we fail as husbands. It is for lack of understanding of who we are (Hos.4:6). The Scripture tells us that the labour of the foolish wearies everyone because he lacks understanding.

The second step is to walk in the understanding of your discovery from the Word of God of who you are as the husbandman. What this means is that you start to behave like the advantage to them. The word of God says that faith without works is vain. Information gathering is not enough. Knowing that you are the advantage is not sufficient. It is doing the work as a person who is the advantage that gives value to your leadership. So, make your advantage count positively in the lives of your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me the advantage in the lives of my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to function as the advantage in the lives of my wife and children
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with divine wisdom to be the man, husband and father indeed to my wife and my children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am the advantage for my wife and my children because that is what defines my leadership as a good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.

Today’s teaching was taught on January 8, 2018, and it is relevant now as it was then.

PRAYER OF SALVATION/REDEDICATION

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
