Bible Texts: Proverbs 14:1-2, Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4, Num.6:22, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.5:33, Eph.6:4, 1Tim.3:2
Every wise woman buildeth her house but a foolish plucketh it down with her hands (Pro.14:1)
In most meetings that I attend on marriage, the wife is always advised to learn how to be patient and manage her husband. It seems that the wife is expected to take personal responsibility for the safety and sustenance of the family. She is asked to pray, fast and trust God for a positive change for her home. But while this may sound right, it is not the whole truth. Every husband is a co-builder with his wife. It is the quality and quantity of material the husband provides his wife that she will use to build, and the outcomes may be good or bad. So, if the wife, as the builder, fails, let us check the quality and quantity of material her husband provided.
As the head of your family and the spiritual leader in your sheepfold, you must realize that you are the determinant in the lives of your wife and children. You can influence the outcomes of their lives with the material you supply to them. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, supplied love, teamwork, discipline and patience while He led the twelve (12) disciples. The results were inspiring. Peter and the other disciples could cast out devils, they prayed together and partook of the communion table.
If you want your wife to build a solid home for you, then you must supply good and godly material. For instance, you cannot disrespect and dishonour your wife and children and expect them to honour you. You cannot abuse them and think they will celebrate you.
Therefore, supply the material of respect, honour, honesty, truthfulness, prayer, hospitality, generosity, patience, kindness, resilience, and goodwill to your wife and watch the beauty your life and sheepfold will turn out to be.
Hallelujah!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to supply good and godly materials to my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a fruitful vine in the lives of my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the traditions and culture of man.
FAITH CONFESSION
I take responsibility to supply good and godly materials and also create and continue to recreate a good and godly environment for my wife and children so that they can be the best because that is my heritage as the good and godly husband in Jesus’ name. Amen.
