A lot of the time, the husbandman thinks that a bold face makes him great before his wife and his children. But Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, taught a better way the husbandman can earn respect, honour and dignity from his wife and children, which makes him great (Lk.22:24-26).
Your greatness as the husbandman lies in your service to God, to your wife and to your children. It is a kingdom rule. It is true that you are the head of the family. It is also true that you are the leader in your family fold. This cannot be contested, but for you to reign as the good and godly shepherd, you must learn to serve and keep serving the best interest of God in your family, your wife and your children to remain great before God and before your wife and children.
So, how do I serve my wife and children?
You serve them by praying for them until the nature of Christ is formed in them (Gen.18:19, Gal.4:19). You also intercede for them until they attain the fullness of God’s plan and purpose for their lives (Jn.17:1-end). Please do not get lost in the rat race of life and abandon your primary responsibility of intercession (Gen.17:1-3, 1Tim.3:3-5).
You serve them by investing your time in them which is the real worth of your value and influence in their lives. Thank God for money, fine clothes, nice vacations, decent accommodation, and all other good things of life. But your wife and children need you to be more in their lives than those financial and material provisions you offer them. They want to share their fears, doubts, concerns, hopes, and visions with you so you can guide, counsel and guard them (Gen.18:19, Ps.23:1-6).
Therefore, you are not a nonentity or cheap serving your wife and children. It is the pathway to your greatness. Therefore, serve your way up because it is the hallmark of the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of pride and arrogance.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of humility.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to serve my wife and children faithfully.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a servant of the Lord Jesus and I am serving the best interests of my wife and children faithfully and truthfully because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
PRAYER OF SALVATION/REDEDICATION
Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.
Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
