It Is God Who Works It

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Philippians 2:12-13

More Scriptures: Heb.13:21, Jn.10:18, Ac.4:33

Wherefore, my beloved, as all of you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings (Philippians 2:12-14)

A lot of the time as heads of our homes, we tend to think that we can force our flock to do those things that please God. Other times, we use persuasion and think that would help. In both ways, it would be impossible for you and I as husbands to get our flock to walk in ways that please God. And this is why the Scripture tells us that it is God who empowers anyone to do His good pleasure. The Bible tells us that it is not by power or by might but by the Spirit of God. Only God can make your wife to submit to you in all things and only He alone can make your children to obey you in all things. Furthermore, only God can empower your flock to walk in love towards Him and man and also live a life of righteousness and holiness. Those godly virtues and attitudes you desire in the lives of your wife and children can become a reality when the Spirit of God empowers them.

What this means therefore, is for you to learn to kneel before God for your flock. According to the word of God, you must travail in prayers until Christ is formed in them (Gal.4). So, as the head of your family and spiritual leader over your flock, you must not only build a prayer altar for your family, you must keep the altar burning (Lev.6). You must understand that the altar of prayer is the altar of empowerment. Every change you want to see in the lives of your wife and children can be conceived and birthed on the prayer altar. It takes much more than the physical to effect a change of character. It takes spiritual warfare to make positive changes possible. Are you ready?

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me an effectual intercessor for my wife and children.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to continue to stand in the gap for my flock until their change comes.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me not to be discouraged in praying for the needed  changes that I desire to see in their lives.

FAITH CONFESSION

I continue to stand in prayers for my wife and children until they are rooted in doing those things that please the Lord because that is my heritage as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
