One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. (Ex.3:1) NLT
The Scripture gives a graphic example of the expectation of a good and godly shepherd. Moses was a shepherd. He tended the flock of his father-in-law. He was not only faithful to his assignment, he also cultivated the sheep until they arrived the good land-the mountain of God. This is the life God expects from you. God wants you to intentionally invest in your wife and children in order to bring out the best from them. God wants you to lead your sheep through until they become all that Hehas purposed for them. And this covers their spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and relationship needs. God wants to make your wife and children all round successes and He needs you to provide the right platform.
So, what must I do to attract the presence of God into my sheepfold the same way Moses, the son-in-law, attracted the presence of God? Firstly, you must be faithful to God, your wife and children and to the whole commandments of the office of the husbandman. As the head of your family and the spiritual leader and shepherd over your sheep, there is the need to walk in total obedience to what God has commanded (Deut.28:1). The second practical step you must take is to develop a life of prayer and intercession. Satan hates the truth that you are in charge of your family fold. He fought the first family in Genesis chapter 3 and he is still working today. He tries to cause confusion between you and your flock and sets up invincible walls. The only way you can defeat him and all his works so that you are not seen as an unfit head is through the weapon of prayer. Men ought to always pray and not faint (Lk.18:1). Another weapon is praise. You must stop complaining about the misbehavior of your wife and children. Rather, you must be thankful to God for giving you a wife and making you a father. It is on the platform of thanksgiving that God reveals to you what to do to win the heart, soul and body of your flock. God wants you to tend your flock and He desires you to do it excellently to the glory and praise of His name.

The same God that made Moses a faithful servant is at work in me thereby making me a faithful man, husband and father to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
