Brand Ambassador

Sometime ago while I was asleep, my teacher, the Person of the Holy Spirit, stirred me up with the topic of today. And while I was trying to understand the direction of His teaching, He pointed me to what happened to Diego Maradona, the Argentine footballer and world cup winner. Now do you know what happened to Diego at the recently concluded football world cup held in Russia? During the match between Argentina and Nigeria, he made some indecent remarks with his fingers after his country scored the winning goal. This unprofessional conduct was captured by the camera and seen by billions around the world. FIFA, the world’s football governing body saw what Diego did and was displeased. Consequently, FIFA stripped him of his ambassadorial privileges and stopped him from representing it around the world.

Now as the head of your family, that is exactly what plays out in your life and your family-fold. You are a super star like Diego Maradona. God has put inside you enormous influence to impact your wife and children and the world around you, the same way FIFA wanted Diego to do. So, the same way Diego ought to be light to football lovers around the world is the same way God wants you to be a leading light to your sheep and the world. And that is what the word of God tries to communicate to you. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matt.5:14,16). As a man of influence, God wants you to represent Him positively in your sheepfold and in the lives of His sheep-your wife and children. God wants your sheep to see His nature through you. The will of God is that when your flock sees you they should be able to relate with you and have a tangible experience of the love and nature of Jesus Christ.

But for you to represent Jesus Christ honourably in your sheepfold and in the lives of your wife and children, you must acknowledge that God is the One who sent you (Gen.2:14-18). And because He sent you to head your family, He deserves to get the best of you. This means that your words, conduct and thoughts must be excellent. The Scripture describes Jesus Christ as excellent. And because you have His kind of mind, you are naturally an excellent man, husband and father. The second action point for you is to seek the help of God to help you have self control over your emotions so that when your wife and children offend you, you will not react dishonourably. It is the power of God at work in the life of a husband that makes him function as a good and godly husband. And when you truly represent Jesus Christ in your sheepfold and in the lives of your sheep, God will give you rest roundabout and prosperity.

   SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a worthy ambassador to my wife and children.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to put my emotions under control.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a leading light of truth and holiness to my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am appointed by God to represent Him in the lives of my sheep and I do those things that make me a worthy ambassador to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
